There’s something really special about being a traveling Catholic wedding photographer, not just the places I get to go, but the people, the intention behind the work, and the way faith is woven into every part of it. This time in Cincinnati felt like the perfect reminder of why I love what I do so much. It was a mix of community, creativity, prayer, and honestly just being surrounded by women who care deeply about their couples and the work they’re putting into the world. And somewhere in the middle of all of that, I found myself even more inspired to photograph Catholic weddings in meaningful, historic spaces, especially on film.

A Traveling Catholic Wedding Photographer in a Space That Just Gets It
One of the most refreshing parts of this experience was simply being in a room full of Catholic wedding vendors. There’s something different about that, when you don’t have to explain why the Mass matters, or why certain moments deserve to be photographed quietly and intentionally. It’s already understood. We spent our days in a rhythm that felt both grounding and inspiring, daily Mass (including one in Latin), time set aside for prayer, candlelit Stations of the Cross, Adoration, and conversations that went deeper than surface-level business talk. It wasn’t just about growing as photographers, but about growing in how we serve our couples. And after 12 years of photographing weddings, I can honestly say, it still feels like I’m just getting started in the best way!

Historic Churches + Film Wedding Photography = Everything I Love
If you know me at all, you know I will always say yes to a historic church. The kind with stained glass that filters light in the most unreal way, arches that feel like they’ve held generations of vows, and little pockets of quiet that make everything feel sacred. The Transept in Cincinnati was exactly that kind of place. Originally a church, it still holds so much of that character, soaring ceilings, intricate details, and that soft, glowy light that just hits different on film. It’s one of those venues where you don’t have to try too hard. The space does what it’s meant to do.
And speaking of film, this is the kind of setting that was made for it. There’s a depth and softness that film brings that digital just can’t replicate in the same way. The way candlelight glows, the way blues and creams soften together in invitation suites, the way skin tones feel natural and timeless… it all just works. Especially in historic spaces like this. Give me more film wedding photography in places like this. Truly!

Traveling Catholic Wedding Photographer Dreams: Coastal Churches & Timeless Spaces
Being in a space like The Transept just made one thing very clear, I want more of this. More Catholic weddings in historic churches. Venues that feel rooted in something deeper. More places where the architecture and the faith behind the day both matter. And yes… I’m absolutely dreaming of coastal Catholic weddings too. California, the East Coast, anywhere along the water where you have that mix of natural beauty and sacred space. There’s something about that combination that feels so intentional and so timeless. As a traveling Catholic wedding photographer, those are the kinds of weddings I’m constantly drawn to, the ones that feel like an experience, not just a timeline!

Spring Engagement Photos in Cincinnati (And Why I’ll Always Say Yes to These)
We also spent time shooting in Ault Park, which is such a staple for Cincinnati sessions, and for good reason. Even though we just missed peak cherry blossom season, the dogwoods were in full bloom and gave everything that soft, delicate spring feel. It was the kind of session that felt easy in the best way. Walking paths, stone railings, open views, it all comes together in a way that lets couples just be with each other without overthinking anything. And the champagne moment? Shot on film, of course. Easily one of my favorite parts. There’s something about spring engagement sessions in a city like this that feels both relaxed and elevated. Not overly styled, not overly complicated, just good light, good energy, and a couple that’s genuinely enjoying the moment.

Why Being a Traveling Catholic Wedding Photographer Means So Much to Me
At the end of the day, this wasn’t just about beautiful spaces or even the photos themselves. It was about being reminded why this work matters. Being a traveling Catholic wedding photographer means getting to step into some of the most meaningful days of people’s lives, and documenting it in a way that honors both the celebration and the sacrament. It’s knowing when to step in and when to step back. It’s recognizing that some moments are meant to be witnessed quietly. And it’s being trusted to capture something that is, at its core, sacred. That’s something I’ll never take lightly.
