There’s just something special about documenting a Holy Family Cathedral Wedding, and Jessica & Marshall’s day captured everything I love about this place, the history, the emotion, the beauty, and the way the whole experience feels meaningful from start to finish. Their day moved so naturally between historic Tulsa spaces, heartfelt moments, and a truly stunning evening Mass that turned out even more beautiful than any of us expected!

Historic Tulsa Details & First Look at Woodward Park
We began at the Tulsa Club Hotel, one of my favorite historic properties where the morning felt calm, joyful, and full of anticipation. Jessica’s details photographed so beautifully against the textured tile and vintage décor. The girls laughed their way through getting ready, and it set the perfect tone for the day. Jessica actually found me through a friend whose engagement photos I took at the Philbrook this spring, and now I get to photograph her wedding next October, too. I love when stories overlap like that.
Before heading to Holy Family Cathedral, we made a stop at Woodward Park’s Rose Garden for their first look and portraits. They originally hadn’t planned on doing a first look, but with the Mass beginning after sunset, I encouraged them to consider it, and it ended up being one of the best decisions of their day. The light was perfect, they relaxed instantly in each other’s arms, and we were able to create portraits that felt soft, romantic, and truly them. One of my favorite parts? A family friend ran home to pick up their dog so he could be in a few portraits. I will always say yes to including your pets — those images always end up being some of the sweetest!

A Moody & Beautiful Holy Family Cathedral Wedding Mass
Walking into Holy Family Cathedral always feels like stepping into something sacred, and photographing Jessica & Marshall’s evening nuptial Mass made the space feel even more intimate. This was a Friday evening ceremony, something the Cathedral had never done before, which meant the sanctuary had this moody, dramatic glow that photographed like a dream. There was even a totally unplanned moment that became one of my favorites: the veil went missing right as Mass was starting because it ended up in the wrong car. Someone sprinted to grab it, and Jessica’s sister placed the veil on her while she stood on the altar. It was raw, real, and meaningful, the kind of documentary moment that adds to the story rather than ever taking away from it.

Reception at the Campbell Hotel & A Sparkler Entrance to Remember
Instead of a sparkler exit, Jessica & Marshall opted for a sparkler entrance into their reception at the Campbell Hotel, and honestly, I hope more couples do this. Because they weren’t leaving at the end of the night, every guest was still there, cheering and celebrating as they walked through the lights. It felt electric in the best way. (And yes, if you’re planning sparklers, get the big ones. They burn longer and make the moment so much smoother.) Inside, the reception was full of heartfelt toasts, emotional reactions from both families, and the kind of dancing that only happens when people feel fully comfortable and ready to have a great time. Jessica & Marshall’s joy was written all over the room!
