Kristen and Will’s P.alice wedding in Oklahoma City was everything I love about a wedding that feels true to the couple. From their intimate garden ceremony to their moody, art gallery-inspired reception, every part of their day reflected their personal style. Kristen actually reached out to me because she was looking for a photographer who could capture the dramatic, editorial atmosphere of their reception venue, and she also loved my film photography. After months of planning together, I was so excited to finally see everything come together. And honestly, I would photograph weddings like this over and over again!

An Intimate Wedding Ceremony at Myriad Botanical Gardens
Kristen and Will started their wedding day with an intimate outdoor ceremony at the Tanenbaum Reflection Gardens inside Myriad Botanical Gardens in downtown Oklahoma City. Surrounded by greenery and their closest friends and family, they exchanged vows in a setting that felt completely different from their reception venue but worked so well with the rest of their day.
One of my favorite things about their wedding was how excited everyone was to celebrate them. You could genuinely feel how happy their friends and family were to be there, and that energy carried throughout the entire day. After their ceremony, we headed to P.alice in Automobile Alley for a reception that was anything but traditional.

A Moody, Art Gallery-Inspired P.alice Wedding Reception
If you’ve never been to P.alice in Oklahoma City, you seriously need to see this space! It’s modeled after an art gallery and filled with the most interesting collection of vintage furniture, artwork, antiques, and eclectic decor. The black walls create this moody, dramatic atmosphere, while the exposed brick, ornate furniture, and little details throughout give it so much personality. It’s the kind of venue where you don’t need to bring in a ton of additional decorations because the space already has so much character.
Another thing I love about P.alice is how many different ways you could use the space for a wedding. There are essentially three separate areas, so you could easily host your ceremony and reception here. The front room with the fountain would be perfect for welcoming guests or cocktail hour, the middle room could work beautifully for a ceremony, and the back room with the bar is a great reception space. Kristen and Will used the venue for their celebration, and seeing everyone gathered together in such a unique setting was so much fun. From cutting their cake to their first dance under the string lights, the entire evening felt relaxed, personal, and full of energy.

Editorial Wedding Photography That Actually Fits Your Style
One thing I always tell couples is that your wedding doesn’t have to look like something you saved on Pinterest. If you love something a little different, lean into it! Kristen knew she wanted moody, dramatic, editorial wedding photos because that’s exactly what drew her to P.alice in the first place. We took full advantage of the venue’s unique furniture, dark walls, and interesting lighting to create portraits that felt like they belonged in the space. There are seriously so many incredible spots for photos here, even down to the women’s bathroom with its gorgeous gold couch and black-and-white artwork!
I also loved getting creative with their wedding details. Instead of arranging everything into a traditional flat lay, we used the venue itself to photograph pieces like her shoes, veil, invitations, and rings. The direct sunlight hitting the fountain made such a beautiful setting for those photos, and it gave the details a completely different feel. Between those moments, their editorial portraits, and some of my favorite film photographs, their gallery really reflects the atmosphere they worked so hard to create. You chose your wedding venue for a reason, so why not let it be part of your photos, too?
