Located in Ponca City, about an hour and a half from both Tulsa and Oklahoma City, E.W. Marland Mansion is one of those venues that surprises people the first time they visit. The estate was originally built by oil baron E.W. Marland, and every corner feels rich with history. Between the marble floors, grand staircases, arched windows. And incredible collection of Native American artwork, the mansion already has so much personality before you add a single wedding detail. Emma leaned into everything the venue naturally offers instead of trying to transform it into something else. The black-and-white reception design, candlelight, and classic florals fit the mansion so effortlessly that it felt like the venue and their vision were made for each other.
Film Photography Was the Perfect Match for Their Vintage Vision
When someone tells me they want their wedding to feel timeless, I almost immediately start thinking about film. Some of my absolute favorite photos from Emma and Kaden’s day were captured on medium format film. Their invitation suite, the pearl necklace, white roses, lace gown, and candlelit reception all took on this beautiful softness that film captures so well. It doesn’t just document the day, it adds to the feeling of it. Looking through those images feels like flipping through a family wedding album that somehow exists both in the past and the present. One thing I loved about this E.W. Marland Mansion wedding was that Emma wasn’t afraid to do things a little differently. Instead of facing the ceremony toward the mansion like many couples do. They turned everything toward the gardens and the statue overlooking the pond. It created such a peaceful backdrop while still keeping the mansion as part of the experience. Afterward, we made full use of the property’s incredible architecture for portraits. The grand staircase was the perfect setting for editorial bridal party photos. And everyone was completely on board for trying something a little more creative. Their trust made those images some of my favorites from the entire day. They’re classic, fun, and feel like they belong in a magazine while still looking completely like them.

It was elegant without being stuffy, editorial without feeling staged, and full of moments that felt genuinely joyful. Honestly, I’d photograph weddings like this every weekend if I could.
