Why You’ll Love a Mayo Hotel Wedding in Downtown Tulsa

Dreaming of a wedding that’s elegant, full of history, and right in the heart of downtown Tulsa? You have to check out The Mayo Hotel. I’ve gotten to shoot here a few times! Including a really fun monochromatic red editorial with my friends at Mariah’s Events and every time I walk in, I’m reminded why this hotel is such a gem!

A Mayo Hotel Wedding

Ceremonies at The Mayo feel like something out of a movie! Most couples choose the grand staircase between the ground floor and mezzanine it’s dramatic in the best way, with the art deco architecture wrapping around you. It’s a total showstopper moment for that walk down the aisle! One of my favorite things about a Mayo Hotel wedding is that you can do everything in one place. The getting-ready suites are gorgeous! Tons of natural light, vintage charm, and just the right amount of elegance. The bridal rooms have a soft, airy glow, while the groom’s suite has this old Hollywood record vibe that’s honestly so fun to photograph.

The ballrom is one of my favorite spaces here! The light pours in through massive windows and gives everything that golden-hour glow, even indoors. It’s elegant without feeling stuffy, and once the dance floor opens up, it transforms into the best party space. Just outside the ballroom is this open cocktail area that works perfectly for your cocktail hour or smaller reception setup. It’s one of those spaces where you can really get creative! Think statement tablescapes, cozy lounge furniture, or a bar setup your guests won’t stop talking about.

And let’s not forget what a great DJ can do for the party! From uplighting that matches your color palette, to inviting the couple behind the booth for a few fun photos, to cold sparks for your first dance or exit. It’s those extra touches that take your reception from great to unforgettable.

A Little Design Inspiration

During our styled shoot here, we played with a modern monochromatic red design—bold florals, chili pepper details, and even espresso martinis to match the vibe. It was so fun to see how the Mayo’s neutral tones and natural light made all that color pop. Whether your style is classic and romantic or modern and editorial, this venue can totally handle it.
