I love when other photographers trust me to capture their special moments!! So, when Baylea, a talented Tulsa photographer, reached out for her 21st birthday photoshoot, I was excited to get started. This photoshoot wasn’t just any session! It was packed with color, fun, and creative details, all captured on 35mm film to give it that nostalgic vibe. Baylea’s Cocktail Hour-Inspired 21st Birthday Photoshoot at the Mansion at Woodward Park
Baylea envisioned her session with a cocktail hour vibe, and she absolutely nailed it! She carefully put together a setup inspired by the easygoing energy of wedding cocktail hours, with fun details I really loved. There were vibrant colors, cute dishes, a charcuterie board, fresh fruit, and even a lime green cake from Walmart! She wore a dress from Shein, the same one she wore on her birthday! This made the session feel more personal and stylish. Honestly, every detail worked perfectly, and I had a blast capturing it all on film.
This shoot is a great example of why I love creative lifestyle sessions. They allow for so much fun styling, and they’re ideal for capturing those special moments! Whether it’s a milestone birthday or just a session to get dressed up for. Plus, shooting on 35mm film really adds that authentic, nostalgic feel something you just can’t replicate with digital photography!

A Fun Photoshoot at The Mansion at Woodward Park
This shoot took place on the lawn of The Mansion at Woodward Park—one of my favorite portrait locations in Tulsa. With its lush greenery, vintage charm, and gorgeous natural light, it’s the kind of spot that instantly elevates any session.
The mansion’s timeless architecture and garden-like setting make it perfect for everything from birthday portraits to anniversary shoots—or just a bold, fun photoshoot like Baylea’s. Every corner offers something a little different, so your photos feel creative, unique, and full of personality. Whether you’re dressing up or keeping it casual, this spot never disappoints.
5 Tips for Planning a Photoshoot at The Mansion at Woodward Park
- Check for Permits or Restrictions: While the mansion and surrounding park are popular for photos, it’s always a good idea to check ahead for any photo permit requirements, especially for weekend sessions or larger setups.
- Schedule Around the Light: Golden hour is especially dreamy here. Aim for early morning or late afternoon to get that soft, glowy light that flatters skin tones and highlights the mansion’s beautiful textures.
- Dress for the Location: The vintage architecture and garden backdrops pair beautifully with both elevated outfits and playful color palettes. Whether you’re going full glam or fun and casual, make sure your outfits pop against the greenery.
- Bring Props or Personal Touches: A bouquet, vintage chair, or colorful accessories can go a long way in making your shoot stand out. It’s also a great way to tie in personal elements that reflect your style or the reason for the session.
- Plan for Multiple Spots: Don’t limit yourself to just the front lawn. Explore the steps, stone pathways, and shaded spots behind the mansion—there’s beauty in every direction, and it gives you more variety in your final gallery.
